Comment: My grandmother Sarah Jane Edwards was born in Glyncorrwg in 1911 (Parents Ioan and Annie Edwards) Her family moved there in the early 1900's. I studied the Gallery photo hard in case I recognised someone! My dads cousin and her husband still live in the village. Beautiful church and village. I have visited once in late 1970's and will come again one day. Looking forward to visiting the church then. 30 December 2007 23:51
Comment: As
a member of St. Cynfelyns Church, Caerau I visited your church on a
number of special occasions, always receiving a warm welcome. All of you
should be proud of the work achieved over the last few years to an
old but very beautiful place of worship. You are very lucky to have such
a chosen priest in Charge and his supporting family. May
I congratulate you on your interesting and easy to use website - I
intend visiting it on a regular basis for updates. 12 July 2007 20:16

Comment: I visited Glyncorrwg with Heather, my girlfriend, last Friday. You welcomed us very warmly and gave us a cup of tea. You also gave me a photo of the church to give to my father who was born and brought up in Glyncorrwg. I have given the photo to my dad and he was delighted. Needless to say, it sparked off stories from his youth! Thank you so much for the photo but also for the very warm welcome that you gave us. We had a great day walking around the village, up to the site of the pits (my dad worked at South Pit from the age of 14-19 during the 1930s), looking at the chapels and walking a little way up the mountain. Our chat in the church and the welcome you gave us will stay with us.
Thank
you. May God bless you in the important work to which he has called
you. I like the website and will visit it again. 10 April 2006 10:52

Comment: Thank you so much for letting me know about your Church Website. As soon as I received your e-mail, I launched straight into and was thrilled by what I saw. The content is clear and very comprehensive, it shows the church and all the people who are involved in it as enthusiastic and highly motivated and what shines through each layer of the site is your love for God and your pride in your church. I will keep visiting the site for new developments, but in the meantime please convey my love and good wishes to Fr. Laskey and everyone at the Church. I so enjoyed my visit there and I hope that it will not be too long before I come again. In the meantime I keep you all in my prayers and extend to you every blessing for a Blessed Holy Week and a Happy Easter.
Yours in Christ, +Bishop

Comment: I think this is a marvelous website. I have an eyesight problem and sometimes the design of some websites are overpowering. I think this one is splendid and easy to look around and navigate. I am encouraged to see that St. John The Baptist Church, Glyncorrwg is forward thinking in its approach to modern technology.
Best Wishes, Cliff Thomas

Comment: Excellent simple web site and glad to see the Church is still open. You ask for info on Church History, have you got a copy of the book " Through Cloud and Sunshine" by a previous vicar of your Church, Rev Roger Lee Brown. This has several old photos including the interior about 1860. Book Published 1982. Also see "Glimpses of the Past in the Afan Valley" Vols 1 & 2 by Glyn Thomas pub 1985 for a collection of old photos including Glyncorrwg.

Name: Kathy Sinclair Location: Surry Comment: I was delighted to receive an email today from a friend of mine. He sent me your web site to look at as I am housebound now and live in Surrey. Because all four of my maternal grandparents are buried in St John The Baptist church and my great grandfather Frederick Hill was Master of the first school in Glyncorrwg, which was attached to
the original church, and my other great grandfather Charles Thomas was
the Church Sexton for a number of years. I am hoping one day, to publish
a book about it. who
lived in Melyn Street. They both attended the church regularly
and I believe Dorothy played the piano in the church. Also I think there
may be other members of my family still living there. My brother
Terry lives in Canada and I will send him your web site to look at. 08 November 2005 07:41
